Big Screen To Show Olympics
16/07/2012

The Olympics is just a hop, step and a jump away for people visiting Exeter's city centre.

A large public screen in Princesshay will be showing live coverage of the Games from 27 July until 12 August. The 16-square-metre screen in Bedford Square is being provided by Exeter City Council and Land Securities and will show coverage of all live events between the hours of 9am and 10pm.

Council Leader Pete Edwards, said: "For the vast majority of people the London 2012 Olympics is a once-in-a-lifetime event. Those who haven't got tickets for the Games will be able to experience the next best thing and enjoy all the action on the big screen in what I hope will be an electric atmosphere.

"We're hoping that shoppers, tourists, day-trippers and even office workers enjoying a lunchtime break will all be able to take advantage of this fantastic opportunity."

This will be the first time there has been a live feed of a sporting event broadcast to a mass audience in the city centre over a prolonged period.
