Play Time At Woodwater Lane
14/11/2012

Children in the Wonford have reason to celebrate – new play equipment at Woodwater Lane Play Area!

Youngsters can now enjoy a wider range of play equipment at this site; a new basket swing, an exciting spinning and rocking roundabout, a stand-up springy surf board and a large climbing unit with a slide have all been provided. These items add to the existing equipment at the site as well as the grass kick-around area. The site has also been generally tidied up, and the previously deteriorating rubber safety surfacing replaced.

Cllr Greg Sheldon, Lead councillor for Environment and Leisure, said: "This is the latest project in the Council’s ongoing commitment to providing good quality and safe play spaces for children and families.

"This play area wasn’t in great condition and there wasn't a lot of equipment left that children could actually play on, so we are really delighted with the impact the project has had. The site was completed and opened recently and it was immediately obvious from the number of children playing on the new equipment that this was an important project."

This refurbishment has been funded via Exeter City Council’s play area refurbishments capital programme. Other sites still to be improved this financial year include Quarry Park Road, Chantry Meadow and Bull Meadow Play Areas.
